You may remember Avan Jogia as the sensitive bad boy on Nickelodeon’s Victorious, or perhaps you’ve seen him clutching a giant bag of weed in the trailer for Zombieland: Double Tap.

Well, having comedic timing and smoldering eyes aren’t Jogia’s only talents. This past Thursday, Entertainment Weekly reported that the former child star has written a book.

The work is titled Mixed Feelings, and is a collection of both poems and interviews all centered around the idea of being mixed race. When interviewed about the book, Jogia had this to say:
“In a world that is increasingly polarized by race, mixed people might have a different perspective, you know? Maybe not the answer, but who does have the answer? I think we’re forced to look at the world in a different perspective, at a different angle. I think that forced perspective maybe allows us to see things that other people can’t see.”

The book is intended to shed a light on what it means to be mixed race in today’s world, a topic that Jogia believe is more important now than it has ever been before.
Mixed Feelings is being released on September 17th, and Jogia’s book tour will begin on the same date. If you’re interested in going, you can find specific dates and locations on Jogia’s website!
