Zora Neale Hurston is the late author of the classic Their Eyes Were Watching God and the soon-to-be-released Barracoon. But did you know some of her books contain documentations of her personal experiences with hoodoo? Reading this book will surely leave you a little spooked.
2. The Diviners by Libba Bray

Libba Bray has a great three book series out called The Diviners. The story follows a group of young people fighting an evil spirit that threatens to wreak havoc. If you’re a fan of the Harry Potter series I definitely recommend giving this a go.
3. The Monkey’s Paw

This short story by W.W. Jacobs can be found in his collection of short stories The Lady of the Barge. This story helps you answer this question: “What if you could wish for anything and have it come true?” It’s a little reminder that nothing is free.
4. The Uninvited: The True Story of the Union Screaming House by Steven LaChance

This non fiction book tells the story of a family driven from their home by demonic entities. Whether youx believe it or not, I would not recommend you read this before bed.
5. Come Closer by Sara Gran

Sara Gran’s novel is filled to the brim with suspense, centered around a woman, Amanda, who is seemingly descending into madness. It will have you asking yourself, “What is going on with Amanda?”
6. The Limits of Enchantment: A Novel by Graham Joyce

On the surface, it’s a story about a midwife and a soon-to-be-dead midwife. But in reality, it’s magically much more than that.
7. Ghosts Among Us by Leslie Rule
