Book Studio 16 went Live last week with a fun, sassy, and bookish Queer Eye for the Book Guy: Book Shelf Makeover. The subject was Chris Connolly – a straight single guy who lives in a 10X10 apartment in Bushwick, Brooklyn. Here he is in front of his actual bookshelf which he built himself out of pipes from his dad’s hardware store. Chris gladly agreed to be our makeover subject and lugged his books, old photos, snake plant, and knick knacks all the way from Brooklyn to the HarperCollins Lower Manhattan offices where he works. We got to work quickly by rearranging the shelves in a more favorable fashion— making space through grouping books together visually by their different genres.

Chris loves science fiction, and he had one shelf space devoted to his favorite scifi. He is also a fan of filmmaker David Lynch, and we gave his special photo book its own space on the shelf. We even put him in a great new linen shirt! He is much happier with his new shelf life and makeover.

Thanks to our partners at Anthropologie; we were able to use a few select items such as a small globe, candles, and decorative boxes to complete the look.
