According to The Hollywood Reporter, Reese Witherspoon and Fox 2000 are adapting The League of Wives, a true story about a group of women who saved their husbands from capture during the Vietnam War.
The story was written by Heath Lee, a museum curator and writer of women’s history. The book recounts how after fighter pilots were taken prisoner in Vietnam, their wives banded together to convince the government to take action. The group became a league of lobbyists, human rights activists, and even spies in order to bring their spouses and other military men home.

I’m excited to be partnering with the team at Fox 2000 to bring this special book to life onscreen, and to be giving audiences a glimpse at this meaningful moment in American history.”
The League of Wives: The Untold Story of the Women Who Took on the U.S. Government to Bring Their Husbands Home will be published by St. Martin’s Press in April 2019.
