Ken Kesey’s One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest inspired the classic 1975 film, which has inspired a prequel series coming to Netflix. It will be titled Ratched, and follow how the infamous Nurse Ratched went from a regular nurse to a sociopathic one.
Ryan Murphy (Glee, American Horror Story) will serve as showrunner. He’s brought on frequent collaborator Sarah Paulson to star as Nurse Ratched. The series was ordered straight-to-series by Netflix. It will be eighteen episodes split between two seasons.

Michael Douglas is also onboard the series, but just as executive producer (unforunately). It would be nice if Jack Nicholson had some involvement in the series, but we probably won’t be seeing the return of Randle McMurphy. Because he died.
