Okay so we’re all aware that lots of celebs like Reese Witherspoon host online bookclubs and push for book adaptations. But did you know that all these other famous people recommend books on the regular?
Nicole Richie
Lionel Richie’s daughter Nicole, who originally rose to fame during her time starring in The Simple Life with Paris Hilton, is actually pretty literary. Richie has two novels under her belt (The Truth About Diamonds and Priceless
) and seems to be a pretty avid reader, judging from this post on Instagram!
Emma Roberts
We recently ran an article on Emma Roberts’ book club, and so the more devoted Bookstrites among you may already be familiar with the star’s affinity for literature. Roberts runs an all-inclusive book club, Belletrist, which has its own website and Instagram. She recently interviewed Joan Didion!
James Franco

You may know James Franco from such films as Spider-Man 2, Why Him?, and The Disaster Artist, but did you know James Franco is also a pretty prolific writer? He’s even starred in the film adaptation of his own book of short stories, Palo Alto. But wait for this: Franco studied creative writing at UCLA, after which he moved to New York to simultaneously attend graduate school at Columbia University’s MFA writing program, New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts for filmmaking, and Brooklyn College for fiction writing, while also attending the low-residency MFA Program for Writers at North Carolina’s Warren Wilson College for poetry. He received his MFA from Columbia in 2010 and is currently a PhD student in English at Yale University. Oh, and he’s also attended the Rhode Island School of Design. Pffft. Seems like a bit much, if you ask moi.

In October 2016, the Sex and the City star announced that she is now editorial director for SJP at Hogarth Publishing, a role that she intends to use to “find, edit, and publish three to four new novels a year.” She has selected her first novel, A Place for Us by Fatima Farheen Mirza, as her first publication. She is also Honorary Chair of the American Library Association Book Club!
Donald Glover

The Community actor and Childish Gambino singer revealed in an interview with GQ that he is interested in books about children with Asperger’s Syndrome. “I like the way they think – it suits me. The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon is great. That and Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close [by Jonathan Safran Foer] – they’re on a separate bookshelf. They don’t understand what the other books are saying by their facial expressions, but they’re perfectly lined-up.”
