Usually, it’s always a good sign when a book gets a major television deal before it is even set to be released. But that’s exactly what happened to Lizzy Goudsmit (who goes under the pen name Elizabeth Kay).
Kay’s upcoming novel Seven Lies, which is set to be released next year, is already being optioned for television after a dramatic five-company bidding war.
Originally reported by The Bookseller, the show will be produced by Drama Republic, the production company behind the popular British spy thriller The Honourable Woman. Drama Republic was more than excited to bring Kay’s work to the small screen:
“Elizabeth Kay’s storytelling had us hooked from the first lie. Seven Lies is a mesmerising, smart and thrilling tale of female friendship and obsession; and the lies we are willing to tell ourselves, and others, to get exactly what we want. We can’t wait to bring it to the screen”
As for Kay, she couldn’t contain her excitement either:
“I am so thrilled to be working with Drama Republic. As soon as I spoke to Jen and Roanna, I knew that they were the perfect team to bring Seven Lies to life on screen.”
The book is set to be released in 2020.
