There’s an obvious trend in movie-making lately. Disney has taken its successful animated films and made them into live-action remakes. From the live-action versions of Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, Tarzan, Pete’s Dragon, The Jungle Book, and most recently, Beauty and the Beast, there’s a clear money-making market in live-action adaptations.
But why do it? I like to think that releasing the live-action movies about ten years after their animated versions has to do with nostalgia and the hope that people like me who grew up on these films will spend money to see the live-action versions.
